Our local Sporting Hero Olympian Triathlete Carolyn Hayes did a Q and A with us during Active School Week. The ASF committee gathered questions from each class which we sent to Carolyn and she kindly answered them for us. We asked Carolyn all sorts of questions such as-What is her favourite sport in the triathlon? How did she prepare for the Olympics in Tokyo? What kind of training does she do? What food does she eat? Carolyn answered all of our many questions and encouraged us to do our best no matter what sport or activity we enjoy. It was a very interesting Q and A and we learned so much about what it takes to be an Olympian. Thank you Carolyn.

Limerick Hurlers Diarmaid Byrnes and Ethan Hurley visited our school during active school week. They gave the pupils tips on the skills of hurling, team work and keeping fit, the boys and girls had lots of questions for them and we are sure we have some future GAA stars in Mahoonagh. Best of Luck to Limerick this year in the All-Ireland Hurling Championship.

During active week the ASF committee organised a teachers versus pupils game of Dodgeball to top off a great week.6th class represented the pupils and all of the school came out to encourage them on. It was very exciting and a very close game where the pupils finished as winners.
