With the help of our fantastic care taker Noel,we set up a School Walkway this year. This walkway can be used for exercise but also as an orienteering trail. Each signpost on the trail contains numbers, letters, flags and shapes that can used to answer the challenges that are set by class teachers. These challenges are great fun and require team work and perseverance to complete. It has been a great addition to our school yard.

The ASF committee carried a survey of all the classes in the school to try and see what range of clubs in the local area were the pupils involved in. This might also make children aware of local clubs that they didn't know were there. The most common clubs pupils were members of were GAA, swimming, soccer and athletics but we also discovered that some pupils were members of other clubs such as horse riding, gymnastics, taekwon do, dancing and tennis as well as much more. It was interesting to see that most children were involved in some club, especially the children in the older classes. The ASF committee displayed their findings on a bar chart which was displayed in the school hallway for others to see.

At the beginning on the year our 4th class began Cycling Safety Training. From this training they learned about the theory of cycling safety, how to look after their bikes and practical bike safety. They all thoroughly enjoyed it and on the last day were taken out onto the roads to practice what they had learned over the weeks.

This Cycling Safery Training was an initiative of Limerick City and County Council as well as the Road Safety Authority.

At the beginning of the year we set up our active school committee. This committee is made up of 4 pupils  from 5th Class and 4 pupils from 6th class. This group were given roles and responsibilities to carry out during the year. They worked together to plan Active School events and organised active school week together. They carried out surveys such as the 'What clubs are you in?' Survey and a survey to gather ideas for active school week and general Physical activity in the school. They showed great leadership all year. Well done to our ASF committee on all they have done this year!
