Run Around Ireland National Dates: March 22nd โ€“ April 30th

As we work towards achieving an 'Active School Flag' we have some challenges to undertake to help us to be more active during each school day!One of these is the Run Around Ireland Challenge.

ASF encourages ALL schools to commit to the 4-week โ€˜Run Around IRELANDโ€™ challenge during the spring term.

  • It is a great way for pupils to learn about Irelandโ€™s most famous landmarks, and to bring learning outdoors.
  • It supports the Athletics strand of the PE curriculum and gives pupils the opportunity to develop good running technique.

Each class has run laps of the yard every day to increase fitness levels, increase concentration and energy levels and have fun๐Ÿƒโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿƒ We have had competitions within the school each week to see which class would run the most laps/kms during the week. The Active School committee are ensuring that everyone keeps up with the challenge each day and records there own laps and then they collect the information each afternoon from all classes. They ensured all calculations were done at the end of each day and made a table of the list of laps each class completed, displaying the leader board around the school so that all classes could compare what they had done that week. It has been a great success and everyone has really gotten into it! ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿƒ
